Modern Family Stars Get Stuck in Crowded Elevator

No good deed goes unpunished.

PICS: Candid Celeb Sightings

While on their way to a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kansas City on Friday night, three stars of ABC's hit sitcom Modern Family were trapped in a crowded elevator for almost an hour, ABC News reports.

Julie Bowen, Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson took pictures together during the ordeal, which Ferguson posted to his Twitter account.

"This is us right now. 45 minutes stuck in this elevator," Ferguson wrote, captioning the snapshot from the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel's third floor.

The actors were an hour late to the event after the Kansas City Fire Department rescued them, but they maintained a good sense of humor about their plight, reportedly joking about the ordeal on stage.

"You walk from the corridor, and from all the different dressing rooms you just hear the oddest, oddest warm-ups," laughs Samantha Barks, who plays Eponine in the film.

Spike: The 'Spock' of 'Buffy'?

Fans of Avengers director Joss Whedon's campy ‘90s teen vampire show Buffy the Vampire Slayer would be hard pressed not to think of actor James Marsters' pivotal, genre-defying role as suave bad-boy vampire Spike when reminiscing about the series. But what did Marsters think of the character?

"In Buffy, I thought that I wanted to be the new Spock," he tells ET. "I was a little side character that no one really thought would be much, but I kind of turned the theme at a different angle so you could kind of look at it. …Spock was that side character that nobody thought would be much and he ended up kind of turning the theme on its head, ‘cause Star Trek really was about human beings perfecting a world view and then sharing it with the galaxy, and then Spock was just trying to figure out how to be human in the first place."

The now fifty-something star was just one of many sci-fi icons present at Creation Entertainment’s Grand Slam Convention: The Star Trek and Sci-Fi Summit in Burbank, CA, among other such notables as Sir Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, Brent Spiner, and many more.

Fee-Fi-Fo-Fun! Giants on the Big Screen

Marsters went on to do a bit of reminiscing himself, eventually giving us his take on the differences between the more traditional, aggressive Buffy vampires of then and the softer, more melodramatic Twilight vampires of now. "In the world of Buffy, vampires were supposed to be ugly and very quickly dead. Joss used to say that he wasn't into the Anne Rice thing. He didn't want vampires to be romantic. That's why in Buffy when we bite people we become hideously ugly. Because in Buffy vampires are a metaphor for all the problems you face in adolescence. So, the vampires of today are very different. They're more in the Anne Rice vein. And that's cool too."

"I think every generation has their own take on vampires, and I think it's fabulous," he continued. "I think vampires, for some reason, they are the most malleable of all of the basic archetypes of horror. Like, wolfman has to be wolfman, has to be a good man or woman that's forced to do evil by the moon. If the wolfman is a jerk, it just doesn't work. Or, if the invisible man is not a jerk, it won't work. The reason the invisible man works is he's a real jerk and so the audience is terrified when he's invisible cause, what's he going to do now? If it's a really nice guy and he's invisible, who cares? But for some reason, vampires can almost be anything. You can use them to whatever ends that you want. Whatever the zeitgeist is in this decade, or whatever, vampires can morph to fit that."

Naked Fan's Encounter with 'Fringe' Star

When talking about Buffy creator Whedon, Marsters fondly referred to the man as a "true artist," though he recalled one encounter in particular that made him realize that even the most talented of artists suffer their creations. "I asked him one time, 'It must be wonderful to wind up the universe and just see how it plays out,’ and he was sweating. He was like, 'Yeah, the problem is I have to keep winding.' He was really killing himself to put the show out, and basically do a 48-hour movie every week, and so I got to see him under intense pressure."

"He's a genius," Marsters concluded, "so it's like, some days you'll get a huge amount of love, and some days you want to hide from him."

'Jack the Giant Slayer' Ewan McGregor & Nicholas Hoult Interviews

Fee-fi-fo-fum! The classic Jack and the Beanstalk fable gets a brand-new twist with Bryan Singer (X-Men movies, Superman Returns) at the helm with Jack the Giant Slayer, and ET's Christina McLarty is in London with the cast, who all seem to agree that actually climbing a beanstalk to a realm of giants in the sky would be pretty terrifying.

Pics: 13 Must-See Movies of 2013

"In the film, of course, we're all very gung-ho about it; we're not afraid of heights or anything," says Ewan MacGregor. "But in reality I think it would be terrifying."

"I think what would happen is most people would start out [climbing]," chimes in Stanley Tucci. "And then once you hit the troposphere or something, you kinda go, 'Nah.'"

"Then how do you get down?" asks Ewan. "You just scream," replies Stanley. "Help!!!"

In theaters March 1, Jack the Giant Slayer stars Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies, About a Boy) in the title role as a young farmhand who unwittingly receives some magic beans that open a gateway between his medieval world and a fearsome race of giants in the sky. When the kingdom's adventurous princess (Eleanor Tomlinson) is trapped in the giant's realm, he must team up with the king's men – some noble, some nefarious – to rescue her and thwart a war between worlds.

Technology was not quite ready to do the story justice in the past on the big screen, and Nick notes that previous Jacks always seemed to wear tights, which didn't sit well with him: "The first thing when I turned up on this one I was like, 'No tights for me.'"

Dan Bucatinsky Scandal Interview

The characters on ABC's Scandal are constantly juggling multiple life or death decisions and putting out raging fires without ever breaking a sweat. That work ethic is not lost on Dan Bucatinsky, who plays the reporter turned stay-at-home dad James Novak.

In addition to working on Scandal, Bucatinsky is a consulting producer on Grey's Anatomy, an executive producer of Web Therapy (he also co-stars) and Who Do You Think You Are, a newly published author and an equally new dad.

Needless to say, his time is just as precious as Olivia Pope's and Bucatinsky recently carved some out to chat with ETonline about tonight's shocking Scandal and what it was like to stage network TV's first all-male nude screaming matching.

ETonline: Twitter lit up last week during James and Cyrus' naked argument. What went through your mind as you read that script for the first time?

Dan Bucatinsky: You know, we were actually given that script literally seconds before the table read, so we were all going through that episode without knowing anything that happened. Shonda [Rhimes, creator] wrote that scene and she's really proud of it -- she didn't cut a word of it through all the drafts that episode went through. She has told many that it's the favorite scene she's written in her career. I feel so honored to have been a part of that, but I was scares sh*tless to film it. So not only was it horrifying slash exciting slash ... horrifying to find out we'd have to be arguing naked, but I can't believe how close my character came to death! I really thought I was going to take a bullet in that episode.

RELATED - TV's 10 Best Dressed Characters

ETonline: Do you think Cyrus could have ever forgiven himself if he actually went through with it?

Bucatinsky: I don't know. I think people have come to really love that couple. I think we're among the few "normal" stable marriages on TV. Cyrus and James actually have a marriage based on love. Yes, they'd go to extreme lengths to fulfill their ambitions -- and we already know what Cyrus is capable of. I love that this show is constantly questioning and pushing the boundaries about how a person can be ethically challenged while fighting for what they believe in. It's caused a lot of interesting debate. How do you wrap your brain around all these characters being felons?

ETonline: On that tip, when do you think James decided to perjure himself?

Bucatinsky: That was actually a big debate on set. When James walks in the building, is he walking in there to testify or does he plan on lying? In the script there was an additional line that got cut where I'm talking to the grand jury about being a dad and he makes eye contact with one woman -- it's like this parent-to-parent connection. To me, in that moment; the overwhelming drive to protect his family, to protect his daughter, to not send his husband to jail was what motivated the lie.

RELATED - The Hottest Elevator Hook-Ups in TV History

ETonline: Scandal has proven time and again that the sins of the past come back to bite the sinners. Should we worry that this lie might resurface?

Bucatinsky: Well, I mean, he gave David Rosen that memory card that proves the voting machines were rigged. There's a lot of evidence. Whether James can be linked to it or that David can prove he lied -- who knows. But it was a huge risk.

ETonline: Tonight's episode jumps ahead 10 months. What do you think the show gains from doing that?

Bucatinsky: In TV, when you have an uberarc where you're telling a continuing story, as we did with the rigged voting machines that involved Hollis and Verna and Cyrus and Olivia and Fitz and myself, you can only ramp it up for so long before the audience says, "Come on!" It has to end at some point and last week's episode, which would have been the season finale if we didn't get the back 9, represents the end of that uberarc. The footprint of the show changed a bit in the last five episodes. The scandal of the week went away and it became much more about the uberarc. I think this little reset button allows the audience to find what's center again as we get introduced to the new uberarc for the next set of episodes.

RELATED - TV's Saddest Death Scenes

ETonline: Where do we find James and Cyrus?

Bucatinsky: It's in keeping with the James and Cyrus you saw at the end of [last week's episode] where they're side-by-side at Verna's funeral. For all intents and purposes, we are intact as a couple. I don't know where James' ambitions go now and how long it takes for the itch of work to come back -- we're only filming episode 16!

ETonline: Oh wow, so the show is only two episodes ahead of us. With that said, what are you excited for the Gladiators to see in the coming weeks?

Bucatinsky: I'm excited for everyone to get invested in the new surprises -- as explosive as the voting machine scandal became, I believe that the new time bomb is going to whip the fans into an even bigger hashtag frenzy.

Scandal airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on ABC.

Susanna Thompson Arrow Interview

From Betty Draper to Victoria Grayson, the TV-loving world eats up a mean mommy. But to hear Susanna Thompson talk about Moira Queen, her Arrow matriarch has more in common with Walter White, Nancy Botwin and other antiheroes who were forced to walk down a dangerous path by forces outside their control.

In addition to getting an entirely new perspective on her character, Thompson opened up about the resolution of last week's cubicle cliffhanger and reveals that an upcoming episode will take larger steps towards illuminating The Queen's pre-island life.

ETonline: When you saw that last week's script ended with Moira getting ambushed by Arrow, what went through your mind?

Susanna Thompson: I was excited. I mean, I was freaking out for Moira, but excited as an actor.

ETonline: Teasers for tonight have revealed that Moira gets in on the action tonight a bit -- obviously we've always known she was a strong, capable woman, but how fun was it to get your hands on a gun?

Thompson: See, I love that you say she's a strong capable woman -- I believe that too. But we all debated whether she should look strong and capable with that gun or like she was not quite sure what to do with it. The fact remains, there was a gun in her office, so me, as an actor, I have to connect the dots to that gun. Why was it there? How did she know where to find it?

RELATED - 10 Best Dressed Characters on TV

ETonline: It's just another example of Moira's ambiguity -- do you enjoy reveling in that?

Thompson: I do, I really do, but there are times I've had to reach out to the producers to ask for a little help in figuring out which way she's going [laughs]. But what I'm always trying to do is find the honesty in every situation and connect the dots. From the pilot to where we are now, I sort of have an idea of where they're aiming her to go -- but it can always change.

VIDEO - New Arrow Trailer!

ETonline: I'm sure every character feels that way since it seems like everyone wears a different face depending on who they're talking to.

Thompson: You're absolutely right and we all really have this moral barometer that we're being guided by in our lives. And it's constantly changing depending on what we bump up against. We can declare what we will or won't do until we're living the actual circumstances that put us face-to-face with a side of ourselves we never knew was possible.

VIDEO - Stephen Amell Talks Arrow's Makeup Tricks

ETonline: Do you feel like Moira actively entered this criminal life or was forced into it after her husband's death?

Thompson: I do believe that she was pushed into a corner and it causing her to walk down paths she wouldn't normally. But the fact is, the ability to do that was in her. She probably didn't know the extent to which Robert was involved in this elite wealthy group of people with Malcolm and I think in trying to find out what happened to her husband, she's become more savvy and more calculated. My biggest guidepost along the way has been that she will do anything to protect her children. So Moira's not only fighting for her life and her children's lives, but I believe she believes she's fighting for the lives of millions.

ETonline: Looking ahead, what are you excited for fans to see?

Thompson: I'm excited for them to see how much more committed Moira is to stopping Malcolm. I've also heard that you'll see who she was 5 years ago in a flashback episode. I think part of that will also involve bringing back Robert, so that'll be interesting since we will more about their relationship.

Perks of Being A Wallflower Deleted Scene Logan Lerman Interview

When I sat down with Nina Dobrev last September to talk about her role in Perks of Being a Wallflower, she lamented that the storyline that initially attracted her to the role of Candace ended up on the cutting-room floor.

The film was easily one of 2012's best movies, so while it didn't suffer for the loss, fans of the book will get to see many of those excised scenes now that the sensational coming-of-age film is coming to DVD on February 12! Included on the Special Edition DVD is Dobrev's favorite, which sees Candace and her brother, Charlie, return home after she secretly has an abortion.

In addition to exclusively scoring that deleted scene, ETonline sat down with star Logan Lerman, who delivers a painfully powerful performance in the film, to talk about Perks' impact, his favorite scene and what's next for this rapidly rising star.

ETonline: Perks really struck a chord with audiences -- what kinds of reactions have you been getting?

Logan Lerman: I had been kind of isolated working [on Darren Aronofsky's Noah] for the last few months, but when I got back to L.A., the number one place I heard the most feedback was while visiting friends at college. Students seemed to connect with the film in a way I didn't expect. It's heartwarming and has been so nice to see.

RELATED - 13 Must-See 2013 Movies

ETonline: Did you have to imagine you had a strong connection with the script when you first read it?

Lerman: Yeah, it was just one of those reads where, and I don't think this has ever happened to me, after I read it, I just knew it was f*cking amazing. I gave it to my whole family to read because it was that good. They agreed it was amazing. It was the kind of script I wanted to read over and over again. I just loved that material. Then research mode kicked in and it became a different kind of reading.

ETonline: What kind of preparation did you do?

Lerman: I just read a lot of different things, but it was really nice to have Stephen [Chbosky, writer/director] around because he knew every detail about the project and every character. I could rely on him for all my answers; he was almost like my little actorly cheat sheet.

VIDEO - Nina Dobrev Geeked Out Meeting Emma Watson

ETonline: Was Charlie a hard character to step out of at the end of the day?

Lerman: I didn't really segue out of him during the shoot. I stayed within who he was for that period of time. It wasn't difficult to stay in him, but it wasn't comfortable either. It was awkward; it was like going back to being 15 years old, and I didn't want to relive that, I was so awkward back then too.

ETonline: Do you have a favorite scene?

Lerman: The whole movie was fun to make, but I loved when all the young cast was together [so] personally, my favorite is the Truth or Dare sequence. I love that scene. I love that awkward tension.

ETonline: You went from filming this very intimate movie to making two very large films -- The Percy Jackson sequel and Noah -- do you have a preference in terms of experience?

Lerman: I definitely want to stay away from doing the same thing twice. With Noah, it was really just my attraction to the director. I wanted to work with him so bad and it just happened to be this big, epic movie. There's a lot more bitching on a big film. A lot of hurry up and wait on a big movie like that. It's a much different process of making a movie.

VIDEO - Emma Watson Talks Perks of Being A Wallflower

ETonline: Would you make a movie you didn't necessarily love to work with a director you do love?

Lerman: I guess so. Deep down if there was a great filmmaker making a movie with a character I didn't like, I'd probably still do it to work with that filmmaker. It really comes down to the collaboration at the end of the day. With Perks, it was a great character and a great script, but had a director I had no frame of reference for. But as soon as you sit down to talk about the movie with Steve, his passion comes through loudly, so I felt comfortable investing my career and trust in his hands.

ETonline: Stephen's mentioned the idea of a possible sequel -- to see where the kids end up later in life. Would you trust him to go back and play Charlie again?

Lerman: No [laughs]. I don't know if that's what I'm supposed to say -- I don't know if people want to hear me say that, but I can't imagine a sequel to this. What the f*ck could come out of Perks of Being a Wallflower 2? Now they're older but happily ever after doesn't really exist for the wallflower. No. I don't want to imagine that.
